Review of Burger & Lobster - West India Quay

Who said the Canary Wharf area is just a concrete jungle with nothing interesting? With the latest addition to the chain, this Burger & Lobster is the perfect place for some decently priced lobster and drinks by the waters.

When seated, I was handed a menu. Yes that’s right, a menu! Apparently, Burger & Lobster has received an overwhelming amount of queries from customers asking why there isn’t a menu. To be honest, there isn’t really a need for a menu if you’re only serving 3 items. But at this new branch in West India Quay, there’s more than 3 items to choose from! Our friendly waiter explained the new additions and also the specials unique to this branch.

With a new menu, also comes new prices. Since Burger & Lobster was founded in 2011, they’ve been known as the place to have a lobster meal at a bargain price of £20 and the price has stayed the same ever since. However, fast forward to 2016, the cost of the lobster has gone up and that also means Burger & Lobster need to keep up with the times too. Whilst the lobster options are more expensive, the burgers are cheaper. You can also get smaller versions of the burger or lobster meal. So lots of variety indeed!

To mark the occasion, I opted for The Canary Wharf Combo at £28.00 which consisted of a small 6oz burger (the usual size is 10oz), small lobster, fries, pickle and their signature lemon butter sauce.

The Mayfair burger – despite this not being my first time to Burger & Lobster, it was my first time having the burger! The verdict? Let’s just say I'll stick to the lobster roll in future! The burger wasn’t bad to eat, it just didn’t wow me.

The Pounder Lobster - a perfectly cooked small lobster but with enough meat to get you by. I got every single bit of meat out of it!

Just having the burger and lobster alone is enough to make you feel content. But after having the chips, you'll feel really satisfied. Fried and then simply seasoned with salt - pretty good and comforting, but should really be called fries considering their size.

If you’re in the area, then I’d definitely recommend you try out this Burger & Lobster. Unlike their other locations, this Burger & Lobster takes reservations. So there really is no excuse to not come. The outdoor seating area is really cool and there’s even sharing cocktails available. The waterside view is also perfect for a relaxing night out with friends or colleagues!
